Have You Noticed?

Life is Beautiful! Posted On October - 8 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

This is a mirror site for SimplyRosalyn.com. I had this site registered first before the original one as a back up. And for years, it finally came to use when I ran into bandwidth problems with SimplyRosalyn. But I still have the domain and will keep paying for it as long as GoDaddy permits. I am still rebuilding other pages. Some stuff I have to take off are videos I have that are being played directly from my site (I will be keeping the YouTube ones) and probably the background songs. Some links are not working too and will get to them in time. My Freebies will be available by next week. I have to find a way to store them somewhere else to save up on my bandwidth...

For now, I am still here. Making the best of what I have...

Addicted to iCarly

Life is Beautiful! Posted On October - 4 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

This morning, all we did is watch iCarly marathon. Alyssa is so into the TV program that she even knows when it is on the air. It is just crazy... I mean, Miranda Cosgrove is really pretty but I couln't take another day of her. I just am thankful though that she still haven't come across Hannah Montana. It will be terrible if that happens!

Talking about dinner, Alyssa was still her bratty self (as usual)! She won't let me us sit on our chair. Rolly had to grab two of the dinner chairs... It was a good dinner though. I cooked some black eyed peas together with grilled eggplant with tomatoes and bagoong (fish sauce). Hmmmm!!! Great dinner!

And yeah, Halloween is almost here! I am looking for great costumes at Better Half! Check it out too!

What Is It Like Being 3

Life is Beautiful! Posted On October - 3 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

Alyssa is three now and she is learning fast. She can be a brat too... well, that is due to some circumstances I cannot control. But you know how they say "Too many cooks spoil the broth?", I truly think that's what happening with her. She just don't know who to listen to. Like, I tell her not to say certain words. However at some point in a day, she hears this "someone" say it, then she starts mimicking it all over again. Then we are back to zero, I had to drag her up the room and start having a talk to her about not saying Bad Words. She really listens to me but the conflict of thought makes it harder for her to really comprehend. She is young... she doesn't know it yet. I just wish I can take her far away from "people" I think are not helping me mend her young mind... for now though, I just am happy that I stay home and control this important stage of her development...

Well, enough of that. I actually am here to post some of her pictures from her 3rd party here at home. It's just the family alone... she didn't get much toys this time but she sure cashed in hundreds of checks. I got her a kiddiezoom camera for $65.00, Rolly bought her a battery operated motorcycle for another $70.00, she received princess clothes from both Rolly and I. Jojit and family gave her Baby Gap clothes and a good amount of check to buy her two or three more Gap Sets. Christina got her two complete set of PlayDoohs which she really loves playing with. Michelle and Albert ordered Aquadoodle for her. Kuya Johnny, Ate Lynne, Ate My and Rona gave her checks. She had so much fun with Bea too. I was actually so proud of her because she even shared her toys...

Out of Towners

Life is Beautiful! Posted On October - 2 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

Well, it took me a long to post some new pics just because i got so busy. Little Lissie had her dental appointment last Monday and I was so disappointed we didn't accomplish anything again. It's all messed up. We were scheduled to see the specialist at around 1:30 but we were there for two hours when we finally get to see him. All he did was visually took a look at Alyssa's teeth and said for us to come back next month. I was pissed! I was expecting for them to at least do the x-ray before telling us to do this or do that. Very disappointing... I am thinking of just taking her back home to the Philippines in December and have everything done their.

Anyways, we went on another out of town trip two weeks ago and here are the photos... Alyssa had a lot of fun! It was such a great weekend...

Just Because of Alyssa

Life is Beautiful! Posted On October - 2 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

We do crazy stuff and travel a lot before Alyssa came... today, we live our lives pretty simple. And based on what transpired from our conversation last night, we jsut do not want to take the risk because of our precious little one.

Rewind. Last Sunday, DJ showed up late for Alyssa's birthday party because Cristina took him to Sta Barbara for a sky jump. Oh, it was so extreme to watch them on video, jumping off that plane and taking the plunge! We were all screaming and cheering for them! It looked really fun!

As soon as we got everything cleaned up and we settled down, Rolly and I were still talking about that jump and we decided to do it this coming weekend. Rolly signed up on the net and tried to have reservation for Saturday. I think they do 50 jumps a day and for $200/head, the experience I suppose is priceless. But before Rolly entered his card number and finalize the reservation, there was a waiver at the end. It was on bold letters and it said:

There is no perfect weather. No perfect flight. No perfect time.
We do our best to serve satisfaction to our costumers but we are not
held responsible for accidents...

We joked around about it. Of having each others' insurance up to a million... hahahaha. But at the end of the night, we chickened out. Not because we got scared, if two 20 year-olds can do it, I bet we older people can too... hehe (yeah right!), but between that conversation was the thought of Alyssa and all the what if's that might happen.

So in my list of To Do's before I reach 40, I am erasing Bungee Jumping and Sky Diving just for my little girl...

Afternoon at the Park and Alyssa’s New Kitchen

Life is Beautiful! Posted On October - 1 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

Alyssa is so excited with her kitchen!!! It came on a jumbo box, about ten screws, and /cups/pots/pans. It has a built in fridge, a microwave and an oven. It really looks so cute even I want to play! It has these great sounds on frying and boiling, and also phone tones. They are soft and pleasant to hear... not loud and obnoxious.

I finally took some photos of Alyssa on the slides. This is the 3rd day she has been sliding alone without anybody coaching her. The photos were taken at 5 in the afternoon. We had the park all to ourselves. When the other children came later, I was so delighted that Alyssa played nicely with them. I wondered before how she will deal with kids her age because she can be a brat and thinks everything is hers. But seeing her play and not throw tantrums when in a group, I think she is now ready to attend daycare.

Snapshots from Our Mini Vacation

Life is Beautiful! Posted On September - 26 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

Ok... it's been a long while. A week, I think. I know I am supposed to upload Alyssa's snapshots but I got so busy. But it is finally here and there are hundreds of it but I just selected few photos to share... Most of these photos were taken after she had her tooth chipped after bumping into the hotel table. I was frustrated. I still am... We went to the dentist and I was so dismayed with their service and so as Rolly so he said he will call other dental office tomorrow.

‘Til Next Time

Life is Beautiful! Posted On September - 20 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

We had so much fun for the past four and a half months with Tatay and Ate Raquel. I just realized how much I am part of the Alcantara's after we spent endless dinner nights as a family... I am actually sad to see them leave. With Tatay being 82, I still wonder how many more times can he come back in pretty good health... One thing though that I am thankful for is that Rolly's relationship with Tatay has gone better than the last time.

Rolly is the youngest in the family and felt really abandoned growing up after Nanay and Tatay migrated here back in the late 60's. When they petitioned Rolly, he was already a teen. And at this age, we all know a lot of filial relationships tend to diminish in time. It didn't help that Nanay died years after and Tatay got married (with Raquel) the second time. I can feel Rolly's pain seeing Tatay treat the younger siblings differently. He thinks that his Dad was never really that good with all of them... and at one point was in denial that these kids are even his Dad's. And I for one find it really absurd that he thinks that way.

But Tatay and Raquel's vacation changed everything about the way Rolly feels. I now honestly can sense peace in his heart whenever he talks about his Dad. And tonight, I felt his sincere sadness seeing him leave again...

Alyssa’s Healthy Habit

Life is Beautiful! Posted On September - 19 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

When it comes to her being healthy, I couldn't ask for more. She eats cheese and eggs, rice and veggies, drink milk, orange juice and water. She takes a nap at noon time and we walk about five miles a day to the park. She gets along better with other kids and behaves when with strangers.

I just love how everything is turning up specially with the way she is growing up. Though very slim, she is a lot taller than most kids her age at the park. She speaks two languages and two dialects. I just want to start her schooling already but I think it is still a little early. I want her to enjoy playtime first and drop her to school at the right time...

Sleeping Tight

Life is Beautiful! Posted On September - 16 - 2009ADD COMMENTS |

Alyssa was very excited we're going out of town. On the road, she kept asking questions as to where we're going and why. It was endless inquiries and I sometimes just answered "uhuh" because she just won't stop. We got to the hotel a little late but because it is still not dark, we stayed at the pool before getting dinner. It was quite cold... I am not sure why. I guess it is because we're up North that the temperature is a little cooler than Southern California.

The Chinese Seafood and fried rice was good. Alyssa really likes noodles so she ate a lot! Rolly also got a huge piece of Black Forest Cake for dessert. Really good with coffee!!! Now, it is almost 12 midnight. Rolly is getting ready for his day tomorrow. I am doing my blogging as usual... and Alyssa is fast asleep. She just looks to peaceful and cute! Here are some pictures of her taking her afternoon nap two days ago...
